Eastbound I-90 exit ramp

The current exit lane is shorter than others, which makes drivers slow down while they’re still in the main freeway lane. Ideally, drivers should be able to slow down after they’ve moved into the exit lane. Our team is exploring options to make this exit ramp work better and improve safety and traffic flow. A option the team is considering includes lengthening the deceleration lane. A proposed layout is available to view.

Schedule
  • January 2026 – August 2026: Bridge and roadway preliminary design
  • August 2026 – November 2027: Final design plans
  • November 2027 – May 2028: Solicit bids and select contractor
  • May 2028 – December 2028: Construct temporary pavement for future detours
  • January 2029 – November 2029: Remove the old bridge and construct the new bridge
Proposed detour

I-90 traffic will remain on the roadway during construction.

  • Both eastbound and westbound I‑90 will be reduced to one lane in each direction through the work zone.
  • Eastbound drivers will use temporary crossover lanes in the median to move to the opposite side of the freeway and then shift back after the construction area.
  • After passing the construction zone, traffic in both directions will return to two lanes.
  • Eastbound drivers who want to exit at County Road 46 will be detoured because the exit will be closed.
  • The entrance ramp from County Road 46 to westbound I‑90 will be closed, and drivers will be detoured to another access point.
