MnDOT to make traffic signal changes at intersection of Hwy 10 and Hwy 59 in Detroit Lakes
DETROIT LAKES, Minn. —.On Wed., May 13, weather permitting, the Minnesota Department of Transportation will replace the left turn traffic signals on Hwy 59 at the Hwy 10 intersection in Detroit Lakes. While crews replace the existing cabinet and signals with new equipment, motorists can expect to encounter lane closures and an all-way stop at the intersection on Wednesday. Please travel with care in all directions.
When the work is complete, Hwy 59 traffic will encounter a flashing yellow arrow signal during left turns onto Hwy 10.
Flashing yellow arrow traffic signals feature a flashing yellow arrow in addition to the standard red, yellow and green arrows. With the flashing yellow arrow, drivers are allowed to turn left after yielding to all oncoming traffic. Oncoming traffic has a green light. Drivers must wait for a safe gap in oncoming traffic before turning.
These traffic changes will help reduce delays on Hwy 59 and increase mobility and flexibility. Find more information about flashing yellow arrows on the MnDOT website.
