Signal and Lighting Certification
Description
This two-day course includes review of contract documents, Gopher State One Call procedures, staking traffic signals, installation of traffic signal and lighting components above and underground, final inspection of electrical systems, activating traffic signals and roadway lighting systems, as-built plans. This course is designed to educate participants on MnDOT standard procedures for traffic signal and lighting system inspection and construction.
Each student will need to complete a 90 minute exam that requires a 70 percent score to be certified. If you get between 60% and 69% on your first attempt at the exam, you will be allowed to take it one more time to achieve a 70%. If you get lower than 60% on the exam, you will have to re-register and take this course again in order to take the certification again.

State, county, city, contractors, and consultants involved with the construction and inspection of MnDOT Traffic Signals and Lighting systems.

MNDOT EMPLOYEES - Obtain your supervisor’s approval, then contact your Training Representative to register for the class. Employees must include the JV Transfer Form when submitting the registration request to the Training Representative. TDS - submit Journal Voucher transfer, submit MnDOT Employee Signal and Lighting Certification online registration form and enter JV number when registering in Pathlore.
NON MNDOT CUSTOMERS - Submit Signal and Lighting Certification online registration and payment form.
Registrations for each class will close 14 days before the start of that class. Enrollment confirmations will be sent
to paid registrants via email. You are not registered until confirmation is received.
