Highway 73 traffic control change in Chisholm starts Jan. 7

DULUTH, Minn. – The Minnesota Department of Transportation will be changing the traffic control at the intersection of Highway 73/Lake Street and 3rd Avenue NW on Wednesday, Jan. 7. The existing signal will be placed into flashing red and stop signs will be installed to make the intersection into an all-way stop.

This change will improve safety and intersection operations. An all way stop at this intersection was implemented previously in late summer 2024. MnDOT received positive feedback about the change and is moving forward to make it permanent.

In case of inclement weather, work will occur on Jan. 8. The signal heads will be removed at a later date, and the remaining equipment will be removed during a construction project scheduled for 2027.
