Project history
The bridge removal and cul-de-sac construction make up the final project relating to the old Hwy 67 closure.

A portion of Hwy 67 between Granite Falls and Echo was closed in 2019 due to ground movement underneath the roadway. Following the assessment of potential solutions and close collaboration with stakeholders, the decision was made to reroute Hwy 67 using Hwy 274 and County Road 2 in 2022. The original Hwy 67 was renamed Hwy 167, and the damaged portion of the roadway permanently closed.

MnDOT continued to monitor and analyze ground movement in the area and determined the bridge that crosses the Yellow Medicine River near 600th Street should also be closed and removed for everyone’s safety.
