Weekend closure of westbound Interstate 494 in Bloomington begins November 14 to prepare for winter configuration
ROSEVILLE, Minn. – Crews will close westbound Interstate 494 between Highway 77 and Highway 100 on November 14 to allow crews to continue construction along I-494 and prepare for winter configuration, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.
Starting at 10 p.m., Friday, November 14 through 5 a.m. Monday, November 17, westbound I-494 between Highway 77 and Highway 100 will be closed. All ramps in the area will also be closed during this time starting at 8 p.m. Friday, November 14. This weekend’s closure is necessary to allow crews to continue construction along I-494 and prepare for winter configuration.
During this weekend closure, motorists traveling westbound on I-494 can use northbound Highway 77 to westbound Highway 62 to southbound Highway 100 to westbound I-494 as a detour.
Then starting at 10 p.m. Sat, November 15 through 5 a.m. Sun, November 16, crews will close eastbound I-494 between I-35W and Highway 77, including all ramps, to allow crews to complete utility work. Motorists traveling in the area can use northbound I-35W to eastbound Highway 62 to southbound Highway 77 to eastbound I-494 as a detour.
All construction activities and traffic impacts are weather and schedule permitting and subject to change. MnDOT urges motorists to always be attentive, drive with caution, and slowdown in work zones where workers are present.
