Howard Lake, Waverly and Montrose see smoother roads, safer walkways

ST. CLOUD, Minn. – The Minnesota Department of Transportation has completed construction on Highway 12 through Howard Lake, Waverly and Montrose in Wright County. All lanes, entrances and sidewalks are now open.
The six-month, $9.4 million project resurfaced Highway 12, improved drainage and enhanced pedestrian access in each community:

Howard Lake

Resurfaced Highway 12 from 13th Avenue to east of Sixth Avenue
Replaced stormwater drainage, curbs, gutters and entrances
Widened downtown sidewalks and upgraded crosswalk signals between Ninth and Seventh avenues

Waverly

Repaved the road from west of Summerfield Drive to First Street South
Upgraded drainage, curbs, gutters and entrances
Improved sidewalks and crosswalk signals at County Road 8 and Fourth Street South

Montrose

Repaved Highway 12 from east of Clementa Avenue to east of Zephyr Avenue
Rebuilt curbs, gutters and entrances
Added a center turn lane at Zephyr Avenue and Arizona Avenue
Widened the truck turning radius and upgraded pedestrian crossings at Highway 25 and County Road 12
