Howard Lake, Waverly and Montrose see smoother roads, safer walkways
ST. CLOUD, Minn. – The Minnesota Department of Transportation has completed construction on Highway 12 through Howard Lake, Waverly and Montrose in Wright County. All lanes, entrances and sidewalks are now open.
The six-month, $9.4 million project resurfaced Highway 12, improved drainage and enhanced pedestrian access in each community:
Howard Lake
- Resurfaced Highway 12 from 13th Avenue to east of Sixth Avenue
- Replaced stormwater drainage, curbs, gutters and entrances
- Widened downtown sidewalks and upgraded crosswalk signals between Ninth and Seventh avenues
Waverly
- Repaved the road from west of Summerfield Drive to First Street South
- Upgraded drainage, curbs, gutters and entrances
- Improved sidewalks and crosswalk signals at County Road 8 and Fourth Street South
Montrose
- Repaved Highway 12 from east of Clementa Avenue to east of Zephyr Avenue
- Rebuilt curbs, gutters and entrances
- Added a center turn lane at Zephyr Avenue and Arizona Avenue
- Widened the truck turning radius and upgraded pedestrian crossings at Highway 25 and County Road 12
