Hwy 7 roundabout project near Lester Prairie complete; detour lifts today
WILMAR, Minn. — – The Minnesota Department of Transportation Hwy 7 roundabout project near Lester Prairie is complete and the detour will be lifted by the end of today.
MnDOT, in partnership with McLeod County, constructed a roundabout at the intersection of Hwy 7 and County Road 1 near Lester Prairie. Work included the addition of ADA-accessible sidewalks and a multiuse trail on all sides of the roundabout.
Benefits of the project include improved traffic flow, and enhanced safety for drivers and pedestrians. The roundabout is designed to slow vehicle speeds and lower the risk of serious and fatal crashes. Mathiowetz Construction was the contractor, and the project cost was $3.7 million.
