Hwy 61 traffic impacts and detour near Silver Bay and Beaver Bay to start Oct. 3

DULUTH, Minn. – The Minnesota Department of Transportation will be replacing culverts on Highway 61 near Beaver Bay and Silver Bay Oct. 3 through Oct. 15. Motorists should expect delays and a detour during this work.

Culvert work north of Gooseberry Falls will require a 12' single lane bypass with flaggers from Oct. 3 – 7. Work north of Silver Bay will also take place Oct. 3 – 7 with lane shifts and single lane traffic with flaggers.
Between Beaver Bay and Silver Bay, northbound Highway 61 will have intermittent lane shifts and shoulder closures Oct. 9 – 15. Work on southbound Highway 61 will require a detour onto Lake County Road 11 in Silver Bay to Lake County Road 4/Lax Lake Road returning to Highway 61 in Beaver Bay from Oct. 9 - 15.
