Temporary detour for Highway 23 South Gap project begins Sept. 25

WILLMAR, Minn. – The Minnesota Department of Transportation announces that a temporary detour for the Highway 23 South Gap project begins Monday, Sept. 25 and is expected to run through Oct. 6 while crews install a temporary culvert to divert water around a new box culvert being installed at the Long Lake outlet.

Highway 23 will be closed from Kandiyohi County Road 31 (199th Avenue Northeast) to Kandiyohi County Road 2. Traffic will be routed to County Road 31 and County Road 2, where it connects to the main detour of Highway 23, which remains in place.

A map of the temporary detour is attached. Detour start and end dates are subject to change depending on weather and other unforeseeable circumstances.
