Faribault, Rice County transportation is the topic Sept. 19 for Coffee and Conversation with MnDOT

FARIBAULT, Minn. – The public is invited to attend a coffee and conversation session on transportation on Tuesday, Sept. 19 in Faribault with the Minnesota Department of Transportation, Rice County and the city of Faribault.

The gathering is from 9:30-11 a.m., Tuesday, Sept. 19 at Perkins restaurant, 333 Western Ave. Faribault, MN 55201.

Interested residents may stop by for coffee and discussion with Mark Schoenfelder, district engineer for MnDOT’s southeast Minnesota District 6; Dennis Luebbe, Rice County Highway engineer; and Mark DuChene, Faribault director of engineering.

A short presentation on transportation projects in the area will be made, but much of the time will be left for residents to ask questions and learn about transportation efforts and challenges in Faribault and Rice County and the region. MnDOT hosts these events with its local partners to encourage sharing information and discussion on transportation issues in an informal setting.

“We like to briefly talk about what we have planned for road and bridge projects, but we’re more interested in hearing the transportation ideas and concerns from the people who live in the communities,” said Schoenfelder.

Schoenfelder has hosted similar events in the past with local partners in Freeborn and Dodge counties.

MnDOT invites and encourages participation by all. If you need an ASL, foreign language interpreter, or other reasonable accommodation, or need documents in an alternative format (such as braille or large print), please email your request to Janet Miller at ADArequest.dot@state.mn.us or call 651-366-4720.
